DENNIS ENGERER, PT

Dennis is a graduate of Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. His experiences include Director of Physical Therapy at Wayne County General Hospital, Director of Physical Therapy at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital, and he has been Director of Northville Physical Rehabilitation since 1985. Clinical strength is with emphasis on Orthopaedic Rehabilitation utilizing a wide variety of manual techniques, neuromuscular stimulation and biofeedback. Dennis resides in Northville with his wife and three sons.

DEREK ORNEKIAN, DPT
(CLINICAL MANAGER)

Derek received his Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science/Kinesiology from Michigan State University in 2003 and his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Grand Valley State University in 2007. He has worked exclusively in an orthopedic outpatient setting, seeing a wide variety of diagnoses, and has a special interest in return to sport rehabilitation. Derek has taken several continuing education courses, including manual therapy and Pilates. He lives in Northville with his wife and two daughters.

CONNIE S. FREEMAN, OTR/L

Northville Physical Rehabilitation would like to announce that we now provide Occupational Therapy services for your clients. We have added Connie S. Freeman, OTR/L to our rehabilitation team. She comes to us with 35 years experience and has several specialty areas in addition to being able to provide standard OT services for your patients. Listed below are some of the extensive services we can now provide in addition to our Physical Therapy programs:
  • Activity of Daily Living Assessment & treatment for dressing, bathing, homemaking. This would include home evaluations and recommendations for modifications.
  • Custom orthotic splinting for neurological and orthopedic patients.
  • Oral motor assessment and treatment of oral musculature for chewing and swallowing.
  • Ocular-motor treatment to strengthen eye musculature for neurological clients.
  • Upper extremity treatment of strengthening, fine/gross motor control, sensory processing, safety awareness, sequencing skills for neurologically involved patients including CVA, Head Injury, MS, MD, Parkinson's.
  • Energy conservation/ work simplification for vocational & avocational activities.
  • An educational/adaptations program for families caring for dementia patients.

SHWETA GIRDHAR, PT
(PELVIC FLOOR THERAPIST)

Shweta graduated from the prestigious Kurukshetra University, India in 2001. She has been a licensed Physical Therapist in Michigan since 2004. She had a strong passion and inner calling to work in the field of women's health since her graduation years. After working in various outpatient and long-term care facilities, she actively pursued her passion by continuing education in various related fields. She is trained in Muscle energy work, Craniosacral work through Upledger Institute, and Biofeedback for Pelvic floor dysfunctions through Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA). She is being trained through Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute for treating Pelvic floor dysfunction and in treating pregnancy and postpartum issues. She has worked extensively with midwives, doulas and birth trauma healers across the country to gather a deeper and holistic understanding of mind body connection while working with some of the most embarrassing and often isolating conditions of pelvic floor. She is trained to treat Men, women, and children of all ages. She is also trained in Feldenkrais, MBSR and energy work. She is a wife and a mother of two. She lives in Northville with her family. When not working she likes to read, hike and write.

MARISA LASKOWSKI, DPT

Marisa graduated from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2008. She has worked exclusively in outpatient orthopedic facilities since her graduation. Marisa has taken several continuing education courses in Kinesio taping and muscle energy. She is very experienced in treating a variety of patients with spinal dysfunctions, sports-related injuries, balance impairments, and post-surgical limitations. Marisa resides in Northville with her husband and spoiled canine, Hemi.

CHRISTINE M. YE, PTA

Christine graduated with an Applied Science degree from the Physical Therapist Assistant program at Henry Ford College. She obtained her licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant and has worked mainly in outpatient clinics with experience in orthopedic conditions and soft-tissue bodywork, including massage.
